Maintenance for Nutone Central Vacuum
Electronics Maintenance for Nutone
All central vacs have transitioned to an all-in-one control
board. They no longer utilize (and hardly supply) replacement individual
relays, transformers, and mini breakers. If your Nutone Central
Vacuum requires a new relay, transformer, mini breaker, or even a new
control board or circuit board, employ one of these powerful, durable,
cost-saving central vacuum circuit boards. In reality, a central vacuum really
only necessitates a motor and one circuit board. Some vacuums have a couple of
boards or fuses and multiple components that appear to be necessary, but they
can typically all be removed and replaced with a single circuit board. It is
not hard to retrofit a circuit board. An electrician can do it in less than an
hour.
Filter Maintenance for Nutone
Much like a typical portable vacuum, the basic maintenance of
a Nutone Central Vac System is replacing the bag, or, in most cases, emptying
the dirt receptacle on the central unit. To do this, remove the base of the
unit by a twist or unlatching, dump the debris, put a plastic bag over the
bottom, and shake the center-weighted cloth filter. On top of emptying models,
just open the top and remove the bag. On bottom vacuum systems without a cloth
filter, reach up and remove the mesh filter or clean the debris screen. Some Nutone
vacuums may have a foam filter that can be removed and washed and wholly
air-dried.
Hose and Vacuum Head Maintenance for Nutone
Enjoy many years of maintenance-free vacuuming by caring for
your equipment. The Nutone central vacuum hose is a costly part of the system
but will last longer if stored on a hose hanger. Don’t store it attached to the
vacuum wands, as it causes a stress fracture in the hose where it bends down
from the wands. The best way to hang the Nutone vacuum hose is to create four
or five loops on the floor before picking it up to be attached. It is not
recommended to develop extra loops as this can cause more frustration
attempting to keep it on the hanger and unwinding it. Consider a hose cover to
protect the hose as well as your baseboards and furniture. Consider hose
hangers, wand hangers, as well as hose straps.
